Even if Style Sheets are naturally more efficient than HTML tables you can still optimize the CSS code to make your website cleaner and faster. Remove whitespaces as and when possible. Avoid repetition of the code wherever possible to make your style-sheets lighter. Use Shorthand Properties, Take Advantage of Your Inheritance, Use Grouping, Cut the Comments, Apply Styles Wisely.

Use a slash to display a directory

When a server opens a link in the form of “http://www.himshilp.com/seo-articles” it will need to figure what kind of file or webpage is contained on that address, wasting time on the process. If instead of using that link you include a slash (”/”) at the end like “http://www.himshilp.com/seo-articles/” the web server will already know that the link points to a directory, reducing the time to load the page.

Reduce the HTTP Requests

When a user is opening your website every object on the page (e.g. images or scripts) will require a visit to the server. Those HTTP requests will delay the response time of your site, and if you are loading number of objects this delay can add up to several seconds.

By reducing the number of objects on your website, we can reduce the delay from HTTP requests. Delete unnecessary images, headers, styling features and the like. If possible you can also combine 2 or more adjacent images into a single one.

Secondly make sure that your requests for external files or scripts are combined in a single location.

Add an Expires or a Cache-Control Header

We should refer the following as a rule:

• For static components: implement “Never expire” policy by setting far future Expires header.

Avoid too many banner ads

Of course, when you complain about these points, they point you to their TOS where it spells out the whole Nome and dog sled stuff, although it doesn’t mention the writing the letter in your own blood (the person on the phone just made that up to be funny).

Hi, I have a mac and I don't know what to do to control a website on it. I know on windows you can use cpanel for the website control panel. I heard that there is built in features for your mac to do everything. I dont know where to find anything out. Help with setting up a homepage, own domain, using Cpanel?
Ok – I'm an artist and graphic person with limited techie skills, trying to set up my first domain. Please don't laugh!
I've designed (on Dreamweaver) and uploaded (to Yahoo Geocities) at least twenty 'free' websites, for myself and others – all basic stuff with text and images, not much more. I know enough HTML to edit the code in minimal ways (colour, resizing, etc.) I also know that the names of the images and how they are referred to in the HTML 'page' have to match up – and I've never had any trouble with the basic Yahoo File Manager. I've successfully linked pages, created buttons, etc. Now: I'm using CPanel. I have put a simple placeholder page called, creatively enough, 'index' for my new site, www (dot) alembyc (dot) com. It has a grand total of THREE images – a background, a banner, and a enter sign. WHY, when I visit my site, does an 'index page' show up listing the files rather than displaying my artsy front page as it was designed?

WordPress as it’s the most famous blogging software on Paid hosting. Well, here’s the step by step guideline for moving your Blogspot blog to your own hosting using WordPress. There may be two situations for this:

1. You’ve yourblog.blogspot.com
2. You’ve yourblog.com hosted by WordPress

In second situation, you’ll have to:

* Now change the name servers of your domain from your domain panel. You’ll have to give new name servers, i.e. as prescribed by the new hosting company.
* And now follow all the steps as described in case 1.

Your Blogspot blog is now completely moved and set on your own hosting. Experience the new interface and better customization.
